The 2nd Meeting of the INTOSAI Common Forum, Pretoria, South Africa

As a member of the INTOSAI Common Forum, BPK's Adviser Novy GA Pelenkahu, accompanied by auditor Nanik Rahayu serving as assistant, attended the 2nd Meeting of the INTOSAI Common hosted by the Auditor General of South Africa (AGSA) in Pretoria on February 8-12, 2016. The meeting was attended by 20 participants, comprising of Chair of the INTOSAI Common Forum, 14 members, and 5 assistants.
During the 5-day meeting, participants intensively discussed about: (i) the Present Framework of ISSAIs and why a change is needed; (ii) the Future Framework of ISSAIs; (iii) due process of INTOSAI Professional Standards; (iv) Term of Reference for the INTOSAI Common Forum; (v) future projects; and (vi) the revised name of the INTOSAI Common Forum.
The meeting produced a handful of important results, such as:
- The Current ISSAI Framework i.e. the INTOSAI Framework of Professional Standard (IFPS) will be renamed into the INTOSAI Framework of Professional Pronouncements (IFPP), or the Revised Framework for short.
- In the Revised Framework, the term ISSAI will be used to only refer to documents categorized as standards. For documents functioning as guidelines will no longer be called ISSAIs. This policy will hugely affect the 5000 series at Level 4 ISSAIs in the Current Framework.
- The INTOSAI Common Forum revised its name to be the INTOSAI Committee for Professional Pronouncements (ICPP).
Members of the now-called ICPP will once again gather for the 3rd Meeting in India sometime in October 2016 to further strengthen their products to be reported to the INTOSAI Governing Board at the XXII INCOSAI 2016 in December 2016.
During their stay in Pretoria, BPK delegates were invited by the Indonesian Ambassador to South Africa in Pretoria for a dinner reception at the Wisma Duta on February 7, 2016.
