Monday, September 14, 2015. In order to improve auditors’ capacity in conducting forestry audits by cosidering economic aspects, effectiveness and efficiency, the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) held an INTOSAI WGEA International Training on Forestry Audit 2015 at the BPK’s Training Center, Jakarta.

The INTOSAI WGEA International Training on Forestry Audit 2015 is the second training held by the BPK as the implementation of the WGEA workplan of 2014-2016. It was officially opened by the BPK’s Vice Chairman, Sapto Amal Damandari, and witnessed by the Secretary General, Hendar Ristriawan, the Principal Auditor IV,Saiful Anwar Nasution, the Principal Auditor VII, Abdul Latief, the Expert Staff of Environment and Sustainable Development, Blucer W Rajagukguk, and the Head of the BPK’s Training Center, Dwi Setiawan.

Joined by participants from SAIs of Indonesia, Australia, Brazil, Ecuador, Iran, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Timor Leste, Uganda and Zambia, the training lasts for five days, from September 14 to 18, 2015. It teaches its participants how to conduct a forestry audit using the Audit Guidance on Forestry developed by the BPK in 2010. Besides, the training also uses the forestry audit training module drawn by the BPK under the INTOSAI WGEA 2013 framework.

Apart from being the host of the international training, the BPK also provides the training with some of its auditors, who are experienced in forestry audits and certified by the INTOSAI Develpoment Initiative (IDI), to be the training instructors, as the Subject Matter Expert from the SAI of Tanzania is also invited. It is hoped that the training will increase the capacity of auditors of the INTOSAI member SAIs in the forestry audit and that the BPK will be more acknowledged as the center of learning in the forestry audit as it will also improve the experiences of BPK’s instructors to train at the international level.
