On November 5, 2015, the Chairman of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK), Harry Azhar Azis, and the President of the State Audit Organization (SAO) of Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Viengthong Siphandone, signed an MoU in the field of the public sector auditing. The signing was also attended by the Indonesian Ambassador for Cambodia, Pitono Purnomo, and the Lao PDR’s Ambassador for Cambodia, Prasith Sayasith, as well as officials of the BPK and the SAO.
The MoU includes cooperation in quality assurance knowledge sharing, the INTOSAINT, and in the human resource development programs such as seminars, workshops and secondments. The short term implementation of the cooperation will be the secondment of the SAO’s officers to the BPK to learn the international cooperation activities, which will be conducted in March 2016. It is expected that the bilateral cooperation will be mutually benefited for both SAIs to improve organizational and institutional capacities.
