BPK in Cooperation with ASEANSAI Organized Seminar on Increasing the Awareness of SDGs

Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) has contribution to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SAI might have function to assist its planning and implementation. SAI also needs to give recommendation on the implementation of the 17 Goals of SDGs. In each of the 17 SDGs, SAI must further connect the impacts of projects on a whole of government and whole of society approach, then take this forward to the implementation phase so that each project has sustainable outcomes throughout the whole timeline. This was revealed by the Chairman of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK). Moermahadi Soerja Djanegara in the Seminar on Sustainable Development Goals, Increasing the Awareness of SDGs, took place in Jakarta, on Monday (2/4).

The seminar is aimed to increase the awareness of the Head of SAIs of ASEANSAI members on the importance of SDGs in promoting transparency, accountability and anti-corruption. The seminar was opened by the Chairman of BPK with various Speaker consisting of BPK Board Members, Dr. Agus Joko Pramono, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, A.M. Fachri, Executive Director of SDGs Centre, the Commissioner of Corruption Eradication Corruption and Deputy Auditor General of JAN Malaysia.

" On a basis of wide-ranging assessments, policies can start, increase or reduce. Sometimes, a sudden acceleration is needed to prevent immediate harm. And sometimes stopping is the best course of action. But, the aim is for growth, for sustainable development, and thus SAI's need to assist sometimes to solve problems, so that we can grow, and connect together "explained BPK Chairman.
